The Process
- Creation of Embryos via IVF:
The process begins with in vitro fertilization (IVF), where eggs are fertilized with sperm in the laboratory. - Embryo Biopsy:
On the fifth day of development (blastocyst stage), a small number of cells are removed from the outer layer of the embryo (trophectoderm). This procedure is safe and does not affect the embryo's development. - Genetic Analysis:
The samples are sent to a specialized laboratory for testing to identify genetic or chromosomal abnormalities. - Selection of Healthy Embryos:
Embryos without detected abnormalities are selected for transfer or cryopreservation for future use. - Embryo Transfer:
The selected healthy embryo is transferred to the woman’s uterus.
