How Does the Process Work?

  2. Medication Administration: Depending on the individual case, oral or injectable drugs are prescribed.
  3. Close Monitoring: The growth of follicles is monitored through regular ultrasounds and blood tests (estradiol levels).
  4. Trigger Injection with hCG: Once the follicles reach the desired maturity, hCG is administered to induce final egg maturation, followed by egg retrieval or insemination.

  • In cases of unexplained infertility, often combined with intrauterine insemination (IUI).
  • For women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) requiring support to achieve ovulation.

Potential Complications

  • Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome (OHSS): Rarely, the ovaries may overreact to stimulation. Symptoms include bloating, abdominal pain, and fluid retention.
  • Multiple Pregnancies: Producing multiple eggs increases the likelihood of twins or triplets.
